ESPN - The Pittsburgh Steelers waived running back Chris Rainey on Thursday after he was arrested in Gainesville, Fla., and charged with one count of simple battery after an altercation with a woman over a cellphone earlier in the day. “Under the circumstances and due to this conduct, Chris will no longer be a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert said. It is not the first domestic violence arrest for Rainey, who just finished his rookie year with the Steelers. He was arrested Sept. 14, 2010, while at the University of Florida after sending a threatening text message to his on-again, off-again girlfriend that read: “Time to Die B—– u and ur???” Rainey was charged with felony aggravated stalking.

 

I don’t like the Steelers. I don’t like seeing them succeed so much, don’t like Terry Bradshaw, don’t like Bill Cowher (unless he wants an office at Halas Hall), fucking hate the terrible towel. But I will say this. There is no franchise in football that puts its foot down quicker and with more force and unparalleled consistency than Pittsburgh when it comes to the treatment of women. Chris Rainey you wanna get arrested for domestic assault? Boom, gone bro. Hit the fucking bricks. The Steelers do not tolerate that shit. Doesn’t matter how important you are to the team’s success. Nobody is getting excused after displaying that type of behavior. You wanna pretend like women are second-class citizens you can find a new team to play for because you’re gone. Might as well be the KO Barstool Steelers.
