Is No One Going To Mention The Fact That Lake Michigan Has 18 To 25 Foot Swells?
(Source) Hurricane Sandy is hundreds of miles east of Chicago, but its effects will be felt on Lake Michigan Monday and Tuesday. The National Weather Service has issued a lakeshore flood warning for 1 a.m. Tuesday to 4 p.m. Wednesday for areas bordering Lake Michigan in Cook County, northern Indiana and southwest Michigan because the remnants of Sandy will be kicking up big waves on the lake. The agency expects winds of up to 60 miles an hour over the lake during that time period, resulting in wave heights from 18 to 25 feet by Monday night or Tuesday morning. This will batter shorelines and beaches along the lake, with the potential for flooding, and the agency warns homeowners “to take action to protect property.”
The agency says that South Lake Shore Drive and the Lake Shore Bike Path could be affected by the windy, wavy weather. It also says there could be “significant” erosion on beaches in southwest Michigan and portions of Northwest Indiana and says that waves will possibly be high enough to cover some roads and wash over piers. The agency also issued a storm warning, gale warning and a small craft warning – all cautioning operators of watercraft that lake conditions will be risky because of the high winds and waves. The storm warning, from 4 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday is the most serious of the three. In that warning, the weather service says recreational boaters should stay in port and describes the lake conditions as “dangerous.”
Look, I know Hurricane Sandy is no joke but Do people not realize how big 18 to 25 foot swells are? Fucking enormous. Could flood the bike path, maybe even hit Castaways. Big waves in Lake Michigan are no joke. Pres, KFC, Feitelberg, and Kmarko probably live MILES away from the Ocean. Lake Michigan is 5 blocks away from my apartment. I’m in significantly more danger than they are. Yet you don’t see me asking for work off. Does that make me a badass? I won’t say it does, but I also won’t disagree with you now that I’ve put the thought in your head.
PS – Anyone who doesn’t think a Lake can kill has obviously never heard of a Seiche wave. Scariest wave in the history of waves.
Double PS - Full disclosure, I was just looking for a way to post my favorite Lake Michigan video of all time.
Bro, what are you thinking? That you can Outjump a WAVE?

Let me know when your lake eats a couple towns. We’re missing quite a few towns here in Jersey.
That video is incredible
$20 says that was neil going out on his first run in 15 years
That you doing CrossFit, Big Cat?
Seiche wave, haha
Let’s see, direct hit from a hurricane coming right off the ocean, or catching the edge of the storm 1000 miles inland… hmm I wonder why nobody is mentioning Chicago. And lakes are for pussies, bitch.
nobody gives a fuck about a Lake
