If I Hear One More SEC Fan Tell Me How Awesome Their Conference Is And Include Texas A&M In Their Reasoning I’m Going To Lose My Shit
Look, I’m a guy who will admit when I’m wrong. If I say something and it turned out to be incorrect I’ll own up to it. I won’t delete tweets or blog posts just to make myself look better. So yes, last week I said this.
Wrong. Dumb and wrong Big Cat. The top of the SEC yet again proved its dominance last night. But you know what is driving me fucking nuts today? Everyone saying how awesome the SEC is and then rattling off Bama, LSU, Texas A&M, and Florida. Hold the fuck on. It was literally 6 months ago that every SEC fan was saying how Texas A&M would get absolutely pummeled in the SEC. That they would be a bottom dweller for the next 5 years until their recruiting caught up. That a Big 12 team playing a full schedule in the big bad SEC had no chance. And now A&M is the number 2 reason the SEC is the best league in the country? Fuck that. If anything Texas A&M beating Bama and being the second best team in the conference actually proves that the SEC isn’t all that great. They’re essentially a Big 12 team. They officially accepted the league invitation 18 months ago. Not nearly enough time to recruit as an SEC school.

So yes, the SEC is the best conference, fine. But if an SEC fan is using Texas A&M as justification for their argument this morning you should tell them to take a fucking hike and learn how to not be a two faced rat. You can’t have your cake and eat it too, and you can’t tell me Texas A&M is going to get destroyed in the SEC then site them as another reason your conference is awesome.

just to be clear, so you dont look like a total doucher, SEC fans said Missouri would get pummeled. Texas A&M was a different story. No one thought they would have this much success so early, but I think all SEC fans still knew they would be solid.

Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t the Big 10 benefit from MSU and Michigan being ranked really highly to start the year too?
SEC is easily the best conference. Has the most talent towards the top easily. The annoying thing is that all these SEC teams latch on to Alabama’s success like its their own. LSU lost to an ACC, FLorida to a Big East team that barely scraped by Rutgers, Georgia had to rally in the 4th quarter to beat a shit bag Nebraska team and South Carolina barely beat Michigan. Alabama = dominant, the rest not so much.
Jabo, the point is that if all of the SEC is highly ranked and they play each other, then losing to a top 10 team doesn’t hurt you as much in ranking than losing to a lesser-ranked team. If all the SEC teams are highly ranked, they won’t lose as much ranking following a loss to another SEC team.
The SEC is the best conference in football because ESPN tells you it is. Stop letting them brainwash you people. Alabama is hands down the best team in the country, but look at everyone else’s bowl games and see that you are being lied to so that ESPN can make more $$$.
And the second biggest problem with college football, is preseason rankings. Get rid of them and none of this is an issue.
Crazy Joe, I get that part. I’m not an advocate to pre-season rankings, i think they are ridiculous to have considering each year is a different team. Other coaches/analysts outside the SEC are voting for those spots too so its pretty large consensus when it comes to rankings….
I just want someone to explain to me how Alabama’s wins make Kentucky better… You think anyone in any conference is sweating Tennessee on their schedule, or Vandy, or Arkansas?? Not even close. If Michigan could schedule that murderer’s row we’d be undefeated every year. Bama is legit, the rest are ehh. One other thing… who in the hell cheers for an entire conference? You have 14 favorite teams?!?! That’s like saying my favorite NFL team is the AFC. I just don’t get that at all. I don’t want to see Ohio do well, doesn’t matter if we are playing them or not. I laughed my ass off at them dropping back to back championships like they did. You think I would cheer them on as if it somehow meant Michigan was better because of their success? crunchface nailed it. You could have been a SEC Team and potentially had a SEC schedule of Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Auburn, Arkansas, Vandy, and ill throw in 2 tough ones like Florida and South Carolina.
Than you have 3 non-BCS conference opponents they know will suck (atleast 1 being D1-AA) and 1 other BCS Conference team.
Alabama did play Michigan, which is good, but Georgia’s out of conference was Buffalo, Florida ATL, Georgia Southern, and with Georgia Tech as their only BCS conference team. Thats awful. And because of the SEC conference boost, you could lose one of those tough games, but if you make it into the SEC championship and win ud be guaranteed the BCS Championship game. And if you lost ur only 2 tough games you could still get a BCS birth….
LSU fan here, Johnny Manziel is the reason Texas A&M was so good this year…A once in a blue moon athlete can certainly help stepping up to the big dogs.
