Generally to be a save, it has to be on net. His face is clearly higher than the crossbar, puck was going high. For a face save to be impressive, the man has to lay down in front of it, ala Ian Laperierre.
first off it was a deflection and was going high of the goal, and second, defenseman in the NHL get hit in the face pretty much every single game, another swing and miss for neil.

i would point out the play in which he ate a puck during the playoffs causing several teeth to be knocked out, however, they had not won the cup yet, so you definitely didnt see it as you were not on the bandwagon yet
