Does This Look Like The Michigan “Batman” Who Keeps Getting Arrested For Interfering With Police Investigations?
Petoskey - State troopers arrested 33-year-old Mark Wayne Williams because they say he refused to leave them alone after he showed up Saturday night wearing a Batman outfit. He wouldn’t clear the scene, and we had a canine out there and he kept screwing up the scent,” State Police Sgt. Jeff Gorno told the Petoskey News-Review. “He said he wanted to help us look for the driver. We didn’t want the dog to track Batman instead of the accident scene, and he was getting in the way of officers who had a job to do,” the sergeant said.
Williams wasn’t carrying any dangerous weapons, but his costume and gear were confiscated. He was arrested last year after police received a report of a man dressed as Batman on the roof of a Petoskey business. When officers arrived, they found Williams, dressed as Batman and carrying a baton-type striking weapon, a can of chemical irritant spray and a pair of sand-filled gloves. He pleaded guilty to one count of attempted resisting and obstructing a police officer and was sentenced to six months of probation during which he was forbidden to wear costumes, including his Batman get-up.
Forget Adam Greenberg. Dude gave a go of it and got his shot and he went down on three straight pitches. It’s time to move on and give someone else a chance at living the dream. Time to have another hero among us step up to the place. And that hero is Mark Wayne Williams folks. A fucking tour de force patrolling Lake Michigan in his homemade 1950′s Batman costume, Roseanne Barr gunt and vomit inducing sweat stains. A man whose only passion is to fight crime who can’t stop getting arrested. The Caped Crusader of Michigan caught up in the irony of trying to catch criminals while also being a criminal himself. Hey if these cops keep dropping cases and missing suspects you gotta do something to change it up. Ozzie Guillen understood that and threw Greenberg out there. It’s about high time the state of Michigan started to understand it to.
