Chicago Tribune - A 21-year-old man was arrested Wednesday night after police say he burglarized the apartment of a neighbor who is an Elgin police officer, police said Thursday. Ryan Hukill, of the 500 block of Redtail Ridge in Elgin, is charged with felony burglary in the incident. About 8:15 p.m., a 17-year veteran of the Elgin Police Department, returned to his apartment on Redtail Ridge for a dinner break, finding a window screen missing and a light on in his second-floor unit, police said. The officer then saw Hukill in his apartment through a window, police said. When the intruder realized the officer returned home, he ran out the front door and was arrested by the officer, police said.

I guess I’m kinda most confused as to why this kid robbed someone that lived in the same apartment building as him? Like I can see robbing a cop or robbing the person that lives next door to you or even a cop that lives next door to you. That’s got the makings of a perfect crime or something. Outsmart the law and be like Robin Hood running around like a boss just slaying medieval pussy and shit*. I get that. But robbing someone in your own building? That’s basically the same thing as robbing someone in your own home. Living in an apartment building is like signing a trust agreement with dozens of random elderly people and minorities and saying “Hey guys, we’re a family now”. And you don’t rob from your family bro. That’s fucked up. Just rob the people next door.

*To be honest it’s early and I kind of forget what it is Robin Hood did exactly so we’re sticking with the idea that he robbed cops and fucked chicks.
