The Chicago Bears moved closer to completing the offensive staff on Thursday by announcing the hiring former New York Jets assistant Matt Cavanaugh on Friday as quarterbacks coach, marking his second stint with the franchise. Matt Cavanaugh is a 21-year coaching veteran, including the past four seasons working with Mark Sanchez and the Jets. Having spent the past four seasons (2009-12) as an assistant with the Jets coaching quarterbacks, Cavanaugh previously worked from 1997-98 as offensive coordinator of the Chicago Bears. A 21-year coaching veteran, Cavanaugh has spent 15 seasons in the NFL and 12 as an offensive coordinator on the collegiate or NFL level.
Look any time you can grab a guy that was the OC for 2 of the worst Bears teams of all time AND the guy that coached Mark Sanchez to his current day prominence you just have to do it. Its a no brainer really. Great hire. Lets Get Weird Bears!

this dude ran Baltimore’s offense 10 years ago. he was literally the worst offensive coordinator i’ve ever seen. i would have said that if you asked me yesterday, too. im not just fucking with chicago. run up the middle, run up the middle, incomplete pass, punt on every series. he made kyle boller worse, and that’s not easy to do.
At first it looked nuts, but Sanchez is shit and nobody can help him. Trestman was Steve Young’s OC and this nut was his QB Coach, we’ll see what happens
