Anyone Else Baffled By This Story Of Some Indian Dude From Chicago Getting Poisoned The Day After Winning The Lottery, Only His Death Wasn’t Investigated At The Time Because The CPD Didn’t Find It “Suspicious” Enough?
Chicagoist - A medical examiner has ruled the July death of a lottery jackpot winner was a homicide after discovering cyanide in the man’s system. Urooj Khan, 46, won $1 million on a scratch-off ticket in June 2012. He opted for a lump sum and took home $425,000 on July 19. The next day he died, and no autopsy was performed. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office told the Associated Press that at the time the office did not perform autopsies on those more than 45 years old unless a death is suspicious.
A basic toxicology screening for opiates, cocaine and carbon monoxide came back negative, and the death was ruled a result of the narrowing and hardening of coronary arteries. A relative asked authorities to investigate further, and the medical examiner tested for “all the major drugs of use, all the common prescription drugs and also included I believe strychnine and cyanide in there just in case something came up.” The Cook County Medical Examiner Stephen Cina said a death from cyanide is unusual. “I’ve had one, maybe two cases out of 4,500 autopsies I’ve done.”
I don’t think I’ve ever been as baffled by a story as I am by this one that came out today. This Indian bro Urooj Khan wins a million bucks, goes to collect his money, drops dead the next day, and the death isn’t investigated because the police said they don’t investigate a death unless it’s suspicious. Um this immigrant just pocketed a fucking million dollars like 8 seconds ago! I’d say if anything falls under “suspicious” it’d be that.
And of course news comes down today that after the family insisted on a toxicology report there was cyanide was all up in Urooj’s shit and he was poisoned. Listen I know the CPD deals with hundreds of murders and an ungodly amount of crime a year but they can’t be serious with this right? Lack of suspicion can’t be their actual explanation. Just tell me you didn’t care because he’s a minority or you lost the paperwork or something. Anything besides “Oh shit that’s a good point, I guess that is a little shady, for sure. Definitely weird that bro dropped dead after winning that 7 figure jackpot yesterday”. Makes you look sloppy. I’ve seen better police work on Crime Scene: Scene of the Crime and that was a fake fucking TV show created for a fictional movie.
PS – Gotta be the daughter right? Always is. Fuckin’ daughters.

Obama’s people did it. His ugly wife needed a new outfit.
Too easy, Neil. We’re all baffled you’re still employed.
Crime Scene reference was solid
Forgetting Sarah Marshall is not a fictional movie. It’s real, and it’s on tv right now.
if it meant your death i would root for you winning the lottery, go buy a scratch off NOW!!
No. No one is baffled.
